The outbreak of the Ebola virus in 2014 generated an unprecedented health risk in different parts of West Africa. Some researchers of the Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK), led by Stefano Merler, in collaboration with an international research team, have developed a mathematical model of the transmission of the virus that takes into account geographical and demographic data related to the detailed situation of Liberia. In particular, they studied the effects of non-pharmacological control strategies of the infection. The study results were published today on the scientific journal "The Lancet Infectious Diseases."
