The OpenStreetMap Ecosystem: an opportunity for researchers

29 June 2018 | 11:00 — 13:00

OpenStreetMap is a crowdsourcing project, launched 10 years ago. It involves more than 5 millions people worldwide and the final goal is collecting data to create a map of the entire Planet. The database is distributed under a open data license and, for this reason, it can be used for any purpose and opens interesting scenarios. The project attracted big companies like Facebook, Apple and Microsoft, ONGs, Governments, Universities and Research Centers.

The goal of this seminar is to introduce the project and show how the research uses the OpenStreetMap Ecosystem to solve different challenges (inside and outside the project).
