I concluded my PhD studies at the University of Trento and the MT group at FBK with a thesis titles “Neural Speech Translation: from Neural Machine Translation to Direct Speech Translation”. My research interests encompassed machine translation, speech translation with a focus on models that translate directly from audio, and deep learning. My Ph.D. was partly sponsored by an AWS Machine Learning grant.
I took my B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Computer Science at the University of Palermo, respectively in 2014 and 2016. During Master, I did an internship at CNR in Palermo, where I worked on automatic sarcasm detection, and this work then led to my Master thesis. Before starting my PhD, I also did an internship in HLT-MT group in FBK to work on the submission for the IWSLT evaluation campaign.
