Veronica Schmalz is a second-year Master’s degree student of Applied Linguistics at the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano, specializing in Automatic Language Analysis. After a successful career at the University of Trento with a Bachelor’s degree in Languages, Literature and Translation, she has decided to take advantage of her multilingual competences and apply them in the field of Language Technologies. Today she counts on skills both in Linguistics and Translation, as well as in the fields of Language Analysis and Computer Programming. She also has a passion for AI and plans to continue her academic career with a PhD program. She has taken part in the 2020 Winter Internship Program and together with the FBK SpeechTek Lab team carried out a project for an end-to-end Spoken Language Understanding model. During the Spring Semester 2021 she will be working on her Master’s thesis focused on Automatic Language Assessment.
